The Last Day
The photographic exhibition was a strange mix - some excellent photographs and some … well … mundane snaps. Tippler, Sticky, Chorlton and I trooped over there at lunchtime and I checked with them that I wasn’t being unfair in my judgement. I wasn’t.
You’ll notice a key name missing from that list. Stubby’d responded to my invitation: “Nah. Photographs aren’t my thing.” quickly adding “… but I like yours.”
As we were approaching The Forum my mobile phone rang. ‘Twas Tall Andy.
“Hello, boss. Are you still in Manchester?”
“No, we’re sitting outside The Forum having some chips.”
I looked around.
“Where?”
“On the steps.”
“Oh yes, I can see you!”
“Oh. I can’t see you.”
“Try turning around.”
If he’d been listening out he’d probably have heard my phone start ringing in the first place!
He kindly offered me a life to the airport on Sunday but I decided to book a space for my car to ease the trip home. Easier said than done - there aren’t any spaces available. Eek. Looks like I’ll be calling on the Tall AndyMobile after all, then.
On our way back to work Chorlton and I hummed and ha’ed over an idea prompted by the fact that Dragoljub Zamurovic was selling prints of the photos on display at prices between £25 for small photos to £75 for large (you can guess how much medium sized prints cost). His mission during the next two weeks is to find out whether we can stage our own exhibition within the Evil Overlords’ offices. I reckon that if we give (half of) the proceeds to the Staff Charity for 2006, we may, between us, be able to shift a few prints - especially if they’re priced from a very reasonable £20 (for 18″ x 12″ prints) up to £40 (for 30″ x 20″ versions). We’ll see whether the powers that be agree.
On the subject of charity, an email came around announcing that four colleagues are having a sponsored slim with the aim of losing 80 lbs between them over a period of thirteen weeks.
Eighty pounds? Peh! If I lost eighty pounds I’d still be overweight.
That’s not good, is it? It seems that I am carrying around an average twelve year old child in excess body weight. Bloody hell.
I have some last minute shopping to do tomorrow (just finalising the wardrobe) and will hopefully be up early enough to get a good haircut. It’s all go as I try to tidy the Acres a little before I leave. Maybe I should find some time for some exercise too … nah, I’ll be walking miles over the next week and my inability to speak Norwegian will help me keep off high-fat foods
