Cheesey chips
“Sorry about yesterday!” the email started.
“Can you make lunch today?” it continued. “Cheesey chips in the Slurry (Tavern)? xx”
“Sounds good” I replied. “12 (o’clock) or 1?”
“12!!!!”
High noon came … and went.
At a quarter past twelve up bounced Shazza and off we went for a cheesy chippy chat. Amusingly, when I mentioned that I didn’t usually “do” anything (socially) of an evening, her response was “Oh, you should go out with Stubby - she’s lonely.”
You’ve got to laugh.
Back at the office and I was confronted by the aforementioned Stubby, smiling but indignant.
“I can’t believe you did that, going to lunch with Shazza. ‘Any day this week’, I said, ‘apart from Monday or Tuesday’ and look what happens.”
“But this was postponed from Monday.” I countered. “Hang on - are you actually jealous?!”
She fizzed a little more uncommittedly and I told her Shazza’s suggestion.
“But you’re never lonely enough to go out with me, are you?”
Stubby had no answer to this.
“How about lunch tomorrow then?”
“I really don’t know - I’m too angry to think,” she laughed.
We’ll see, won’t we?
