Back to work

After having spent most of yesterday on the phone to Thomas, Richard and Harold regarding Dad, it was a pleasant change to return to the orifice today and get some work done.

In preparation for the guest blogging extraveganza (and despite the growing suspicion that I may well regret this) I’ve installed a couple of plug-ins to “guide” the guest(s) - restricting the posts available, for example, to the “Guest posts” category.

I’ve used James Ponder’s “Userextra” plugin for this (which needs, in turn, his “Usermeta” plugin). Apart from a couple of errors on my part (if you visited overnight and saw a blank blog, that was a result of my overzealous handiwork and misunderstanding of how one of the options worked) these seem to be pretty handy additions to the arsenal.

Also installed yesterday was Owen Winkler and David House’s “Role Manager” which, apart from the typo, (that should be “Rôle Manager”, gentlemen) looks like a very user friendly way of, um, managing rôles within WordPress 2.

Oh, and Thomas Cook rang - my tickets have arrived. Woo hoo!

  1. I assume the use of the word ‘arsenal’ just prior to the European Cup Final was a crass way of getting your hit count up. Can we expect the word ‘Barcelona’ later in the day?

  2. “restricting the posts available, for example, to the “Guest posts” category.” SPOILSPORT!

…apart from the typo, (that should be “Rôle Manager”, gentlemen) PEDANT!

  3. Talking of typos, *cough* extraveganza *cough*…
