Testing pull quotes, then

Using <pl> I can pull quotes to the left hand side.
Mary had a little lamb,
She also had a duck

This is normal text obviously. It’s amazing - hard to believe myself, in fact.

While <pr> allows me to pull quotes on the right side too. Shall I finish that rhyme? Um … maybe not.

It seems I’ve actually managed to get pullquotes working as a plugin. Now all I have to is get the quotes formatted as I’d like them.

The main problem I was having was where I was trying to apply basic bold or emphasis styling within the pullquotes. This was failing (of course) as the “/” at the end of the style was playing havoc with the filtering. You may notice here, though, that both the sample pullquotes have this basic styling within them and you may be wondering how I managed that.

Well, it’s a bit of a bodge, but what I’ve done is applied two more filters using an exclamation mark followed by “b” or “i” to start and end the blocks with these filters being applied after the pullquote filter’s been run.

Full plugin to follow shortly …

The Pullquotes and FakeHTML plugins are now available. Have fun.

  1. Oooh Mr Emthree, you spoil us! Sounds like a great plugin, let me know if you need guineau pigs.

  2. Can the text be left and right aligned and ragged edge? Me no likee centred text in a box (despite evidence to the contrary and yes I will fix my sidebar when I’ve a minute).

Em3: Yes, it can. Instructions for this can be now found on the Em3 Pullquotes plugin page.
