Ahh yes, gadgety goodness! I’m with you there EM3. I suggest the real the question is whether to want the Fleischmann or Lenz DCC system? Why mess around with boring old DC, toggle switches, wires for miles and the odd LED when you can get really techie with LCD screens and have lots of interesting-looking buttons to get right into programming all manner of clever stuff with?
Em³: Well, I was going to use DCC I’d go for Lenz, but that’s only because my friends at The Railway Workshop are stockists.

Em³: True but battery life’s perfectly acceptable for my purposes and it’s no real hardship to carry a charger if I’m going to be away.
